Legislation that would allow undocumented students who graduate from Tennessee high schools to pay in-state tuition at higher education institutions will be considered next week in the Senate Education Committee. This legislation, SB2263/HB2429, is sponsored by Sen. Todd Gardenhire (R-Chattanooga) and Rep. Mark White (R-Memphis). It is supported by a number of entities, including the University of Tennessee System.
A robust debate is expected and there are many counter proposals to this piece of legislation also on the calendars for consideration.
