In March 2019, we announced the UT Promise scholarship – a new student-success-oriented scholarship that covers tuition and mandatory fees for qualifying Tennessee undergraduate students who have a household income under $50,000 and are HOPE eligible.

We are recruiting UT Promise volunteer mentors to invest one hour a month to serve as a resource and source of encouragement to our UT Promise scholarship recipients. As a UT advocate and a leader in your community, you would make a great mentor for a UT student.

Even if you do not live near a UT campus, you can still be an effective mentor. You will be matched with students based on preferences, such as location, major, and interests. We’ll guide you every step of the way and provide access to an online mentoring platform that will make it easy to interact with students.

I have signed up to become a mentor and am excited to support these students throughout their collegiate journey. I encourage you to join me in becoming a UT Promise mentor and making a life-changing impact on our students.

Please also consider promoting UT Promise with your networks and on your social media pages. Here are some samples:

“The University of Tennessee is recruiting volunteer mentors to help guide UT Promise students through the transition to university and professional life. UT Promise is a new scholarship program that covers tuition and mandatory fees for qualifying Tennessee undergraduate students who have a household income under $50,000. The program pairs scholarship recipients attending UT’s campuses in Knoxville, Chattanooga, Martin, and Memphis with a mentor who will serve as a resource and source of encouragement to students throughout their collegiate journey. To learn more and sign up as a volunteer mentor, visit the UT Promise website.”

Join me and sign up as a #UTPromise mentor. Together we can help thousands of future UT Promise students on their journey to get their degree from the University of Tennessee!

Thank you for your valuable commitment to the University. If you have any questions, please contact UT Promise Coordinator Ashton Braddock at Ashton.Braddock@tennessee.edu.
